B. Slaves/Servants/Employees Submit Yourselves to Your Master with all Respect

1 Peter 2: 18 - 20
Our driving force is not to be our rights or happiness, but the purposes of God. We are not to have a complaining spirit or bitterness about our employer, even if they are unfair.
We are to use it as an opportunity to submit.
A lack of submisison to God, and a lack of yielding to the Spirit, will always show up in our lives.
Proper submission to human authority is a real test of the heart.
Have you placed your hope in the things of this world, rather than...?

C. Wives Submit to your Husbands
1 Peter 3: 1 [Ephesians 5: 22, Colossians 3: 18, Titus 2: 4 - 5]
If you miss the foundational concept of helper and headship, you will miss the point
The "profound fusion of two lives into one, shared life together, by the mutual consent and covenant of marriage. It is the complete and permanent giving over of oneself into a new circle of shared existence with one's partner" ~Otlund
But something happened to make relationships and working together very difficult: sin
Wrong kind of desire and wrong kind of ruling over.
Male-female equality and male headship (Genesis 2: 18, 20)
Submission in scripture does not imply inferiority... from the government to marriage to Jesus
If we follow our natural tendency through, we will not get it right.
