STEP TWO - Trusting God
Pat Gatlin

This week – we come to lesson #2 – “Trusting God”

Webster’s defines trust as: The reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing; Confident expectation of something; hope; A person on whom , or a thing on which one, relies: God is my trust; The obligation or responsibility imposed on a person in whom confidence or authority is placed: a position of trust.

God is the only One in which we can truly rely upon. He is the only One that will never disappoint us or let us down.

Deut 31:7-8

God was with Moses in the face of an angry Pharaoh Exodus 7
He protected Lot and his family from a city full of angry and perverse men Gen 19
He brought Noah and his family safely through the flood Gen 7
He used Esther to save his people from Haman’s evil plot Esther 5
Jesus took hold of a fearful Peter and led him back to safety in the boat Matthew 14

James 1:2-4
There is something being done to you and I through the pressures we have been facing.

When we place our trust in the Lord – no matter what our circumstances are - we can be assured that everything is going to work out perfectly!!

James 1:12
1 Peter 4:12-19
Phil 1:6
Eph 4:22-24
We need to put off your old self… a new attitude… Are we there yet?

How many of the following characteristics currently describe your life: Inferiority; Insecurity; Inadequacy; Guilt; Worry; Doubt

Eph 2:6 - Heb 13:5 - Phil 4:13 - Rom 8:1 - John 14:26-27 - Phil 4:6-7 - 1 Peter 5:6-7 - James 1:5-6

When we are living by the Spirit and not by the flesh – we can accomplish anything. It’s when we try to do it in our own strength that we fail!

John 15:5 - Eph 3:9-12

So the real question then becomes, “How can I know if I am walking according to the flesh or according to the Spirit?”

Gal 5:19-25 - James 5:16 - 1 John 1:9-10
